For a few days in January, photography takes over José Ignacio: the FOCUS festival intervenes in the village's public and private spaces with open-air exhibitions, turning the sandy streets and whitewashed walls into showrooms. The 2025 edition ran from January 6 to 15, with Spanish photographer Chema Madoz as guest of honour and a tribute to the great Sara Facio at Galería de las Misiones.
The beauty of the format is that you don't need to step inside anywhere: you walk the village and the show keeps crossing your path, between the lighthouse, the plaza and the galleries. It's a free, flexible plan, ideal for the hours when the beach gives you a break. If you're the kind who travels with a camera over your shoulder, put it on your January agenda for the coast.
