The course began as a handful of three holes among small farms and grew to twenty-one before Ángel Cabrera, a two-time major champion, redesigned it between 2013 and 2015. Today it is an 18-hole, par-72 layout of more than 7,000 yards, with ten lakes scattered among the vineyards, olive groves and hills of the Garzón estate. The 12th hole, a par 5 guarded by three ponds, is the postcard everyone remembers.

It was the first course in the world to receive the PGA Tour Preferred designation, a seal comparable to the TPC brand, and it is affiliated with the Asociación Uruguaya de Golf. You don't need a handicap to play: the Puertas de entrada al Golf beginners' program lets you book your first lesson and start from scratch. After your round you can cross over to the winery and end the day with a glass of wine looking out over the hills.
