Since 2011, every summer the JIIFF turns José Ignacio and Pueblo Garzón into an open-sky cinema: screenings take place outdoors, in natural settings like the beach and the old Garzón train station. The lineup favours independent and international cinema, far from the commercial billboard, and usually comes with big-name guests.

The 16th edition ran from January 24 to February 1, 2026, with figures like Willem Dafoe and director Gastón Solnicki presenting films, and an industry section that handed out more than 130,000 dollars in prizes. Watching a movie barefoot on the sand, with the lighthouse in the background, is one of those experiences that define summer here. Keep an eye on the January program.
