Carlos Vignolo is a self-taught sculptor who found his craft among the tools of his grandfather's workshop and, since 2008, has developed his work in his own studio in the La Juanita resort. He works in wood carving with pieces of great presence, and his workshop also serves as a space for sales to the public. It sits on Uruguay and República Argentina streets, right in the heart of the woodland-and-dunes neighbourhood, away from the bustle of the centre.
His work circulates through galleries in the area, among them the well-known Galería Los Caracoles, which represents him and has exhibited his pieces. Visiting the studio is a different way to get close to the art of the resort: you can see the works in the very place they are born and talk with the artist about his process. If contemporary sculpture interests you, it is best to arrange the visit, since the workshop does not always keep fixed opening hours.
