Popei is a restaurant in the centre of José Ignacio, two blocks from the beach, open since 1991. Its menu centres on fish and seafood — calamari with prawns, paella, seafood rice — plus homemade pasta (including a seaweed version), clay-oven pizzas, milanesas and chivito, Uruguay's loaded steak sandwich.
