A Pura Vela is a sailing school on the Rocha shore of Laguna Garzón that promotes recreational sailing for children, young people and adults. It works with catamarans, twin-hulled boats ideal for the lagoon's shallow waters, where you can stand almost everywhere and there are no dangerous obstacles: a perfect classroom for casting off for the first time and learning to read the wind without scares.

Besides the lessons, they offer catamaran outings for the whole family with observation of the native flora and fauna of this body of water, part of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas. It's a slower-paced alternative to kiting for getting to know the lagoon from the water: ideal if you're traveling with kids or prefer to let the wind do the work for you. Arrange by phone or email in advance, especially in summer.
