LUZ is a small, meticulously kept lodge hidden between rolling countryside and the Atlantic, on the outskirts of José Ignacio. There are just seven earth-toned rooms with Moroccan-inspired interiors, soft linens and that blend of rustic and luxurious that suits this area so well. The name says it all: the table is the heart of the place, with garden-to-table cooking and a wine cellar that sets the tone.

Between meals there is a heated infinity pool surrounded by pines, a gin bar, a tennis court, a gym with leather-clad artisanal equipment and bikes for losing yourself among the estate's pine groves and olive trees. It is a plan for gourmets and couples who want the José Ignacio scene but prefer to sleep in countryside silence. It is not cheap: rates start high, in line with the experience.
