Founded in 2014 by Mercedes Sader and Patricia Fernández Graña, Black Gallery represents established Uruguayan artists in dialogue with younger creators, and every summer it brings that vision to its house in Pueblo Garzón. The contrast is part of the charm: demanding contemporary art in a country town, among hills, streams and dirt roads.
The gallery keeps a select program of exhibitions built in close collaboration with its artists, and its confirmed presence at the Este Arte 2026 fair speaks to a fully active project. For visitors, the Garzón house is the most accessible way into its catalogue: painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media from today's Uruguayan scene, steps from the town square.
