That a town of fewer than 220 residents has a gallery with a Miami branch says a lot about Garzón. Piero Atchugarry opened his space in a corner house next to the square in 2019, and since then has developed an experimental program of solo shows and site-specific installations inspired by the Uruguayan rural landscape, with top-tier international artists.
The gallery runs in season, December to April, and is the ideal gateway to the town's art circuit. You walk in from the square, the shows rotate every summer, and the intimate scale of the house lets you see the work in a way that's impossible at a big fair or museum. A few minutes away is Tierra Garzón, its sculpture park, open by appointment.
