Kite Club Uruguay is based next to the circular bridge over Laguna Garzón, one of the friendliest kitesurfing spots in the country: shallow, flat water where you can stand almost everywhere in the lagoon, usable wind from any direction within it and some 245 windy days a year. The school offers beginner lessons, coaching for those who already ride, equipment rental and personalized outings, with instructors who speak Spanish and English.

The best wind window runs from October to March, peaking in midsummer, when the lagoon fills with colorful kites against the sunset. Keep in mind that Laguna Garzón is part of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas and kiting is regulated, so it's best to coordinate with the school before showing up with your own gear. For a first contact with the sport, few classrooms are as gentle as this one.
