Rizoma is a family project that opened in late 2020 among the pines and quiet streets of La Juanita, combining a bookshop, café, ceramics studio and a small four-room inn. The book selection runs past 15,000 titles, with editions you won't find just anywhere, and the café invites you to settle in and read for a good long while.

It's one of the few places in the area that keeps going beyond summer: in the off-season it usually opens Friday to Sunday during the day, and in the peak months it extends its hours and adds a cultural calendar. If you're after a morning or afternoon plan that isn't the beach, this crossing of books, ceramics and coffee is hard to beat on this coast.
