Vicente "Pirulo" Correa is a third-generation fisherman who has worked the lagoon for six decades: he supplies fresh fish to La Huella, Popeye and La Susana, and even stocked Mauro Colagreco's pop-up at Estancia Vik. Together with Cristina he opened his own rancho with a wooden deck on the shore of the José Ignacio lagoon, and what began as a canteen for restaurant workers turned into a phenomenon: some days have seen 250 covers.

There is no fancy menu here: you get corvina, silverside or mullet depending on what came in that morning, grilled with salt and pepper, served with fries and coleslaw. You eat very well for around 750 pesos, soft drink and homemade flan included, something almost unheard of in the area. In summer it opens daily from midday to 6 pm; in winter, only on selected weekends.
