If you are planning a wedding or a private celebration in José Ignacio, the portal lists six planners and production companies. Three are based in the village itself: Jose Ignacio Weddings, Laura Cóccaro and Paula Acourt. For a party on the Rocha side, across the lagoon bridge, only one events listing names El Caracol and Laguna Garzón in its coverage: Leticia Somma. This selection adds a florist and the events area at Bodega Garzón, eight listings in all, sorted by what each one states: where it is based, which areas it covers and which part of the job it takes on.
Planning from abroad: what to know first
High season in José Ignacio is December to February, when the town multiplies its population, according to the portal's page on the town. Carrasco airport is about 180 km from José Ignacio according to the portal's transport guide. Two transport listings name events among their work. LPTUR runs a 24-hour service from Carrasco, with vehicles for up to 46 passengers, and mentions weddings. Punta Traslados offers private transfers with bilingual drivers for special events.
Several planner listings mention couples or clients from abroad. Jose Ignacio Weddings names Brazil, Argentina and the United States. Punta Weddings names Brazilian, American and European clients. Laura Cóccaro and Paula Acourt both mention foreign clients. Marcela Martino's listing adds a concierge service for destination weddings where the guests travel too.
What the directory shows: 8 of 83 service listings have Events in their Type field
The portal's services directory holds 83 listings, and in eight of them the Type field says Events (for the winery, "Corporate and social events"): six planners or production companies, a floral designer and the Bodega Garzón events area. Four of the eight are based in José Ignacio, two in Punta del Este, one in Chuy and the winery in Pueblo Garzón. Coverage is where they differ most. Two listings include Garzón, without saying whether they mean the village or the lagoon, two include Rocha, and just one mentions El Caracol and Laguna Garzón by name. The listings for Laura Cóccaro and the winery have no coverage field; they only give their location, José Ignacio and Pueblo Garzón.
Maldonado or Rocha: which side of the lagoon
Uruguay is divided into departments. Under article 262 of the Constitution, each is governed by a Junta Departamental and an Intendente. José Ignacio and Pueblo Garzón belong to Maldonado, as the portal's pages on José Ignacio and Pueblo Garzón explain. The Laguna Garzón bridge sits at the border between Maldonado and Rocha, as the portal's bridge guide explains, so crossing it takes you into Rocha. Turismo Rocha places El Caracol on the lagoon shore just past the bridge, and lists Leticia Somma Eventos & Comunicación among the services there. For a house or farm on that side, two listings declare Rocha: Leticia Somma, from Chuy, and Marcela Martino, from Punta del Este. The other four planners do not mention Rocha in their listings. As a venue on the Rocha side, the listing for Las Cárcavas Restaurant, at Ruta 10 km 204.5 between the lagoon and Las Garzas, says it also works as an events and wedding hall.
Jose Ignacio Weddings (based in José Ignacio)
Run by Sabrina D'Agrossi, it focuses on destination weddings. Its listing describes full production, from the first meeting with the couple to the day itself, with concierge and design services and a team of suppliers matched to the size of each wedding. It is geared to couples who come for a celebration lasting several days. Stated coverage: José Ignacio, La Barra, Punta del Este and Pueblo Edén. Contact through the Jose Ignacio Weddings listing.
Laura Cóccaro (based in José Ignacio)
According to her listing, she spent sixteen years at Parador La Huella before going independent. She now runs two lines: Weddings & Bespoke Events, for destination weddings and tailor-made private celebrations, and Brand & Style, for brand events and experiences. Her listing names only José Ignacio, so ask early if your venue is in Garzón or across the bridge. Contact through Laura Cóccaro's listing.
Paula Acourt Event Planner (based in José Ignacio)
Boutique weddings and events since 2007. Her listing spells out the scope: finding suppliers, tracking the budget, logistics, and coordinating and supervising the day, including setting up and clearing away. It mentions experience at Parador La Huella and La Caracola. Coverage includes Garzón as well as José Ignacio, La Barra and Punta del Este. Details in Paula Acourt's listing.
Marcela Martino Wedding Planner (based in Punta del Este)
Her operating base is Punta del Este, and she is the only planner based in Punta del Este or José Ignacio whose stated coverage includes Rocha: José Ignacio, La Barra, Garzón, Punta del Este and Rocha. The listing describes end-to-end coordination, from choosing the venue and managing suppliers to ceremonies of different traditions and running the day. Punta Weddings (based in Punta del Este)
Monica Hirsch's boutique production company concentrates on destination weddings spread over several days. It works out of Punta del Este, and the only areas its listing names are Punta del Este and José Ignacio. The listing names concept, design, venue selection, decoration, flowers and supplier coordination. Before this, Hirsch worked with flowers and decoration in New York. Leticia Somma Eventos & Comunicación (based in Chuy, covers Rocha)
The only events listing whose coverage names El Caracol and Laguna Garzón; the coverage field reads "Rocha department, including El Caracol / Laguna Garzón". It organises weddings, meetings and other events on the Rocha side. Turismo Rocha lists it for the El Caracol destination under event organisation and services. Her listing says she works all year round and suggests checking scope and availability for your date. Contact through Leticia Somma's listing.
Hannah Sandling, floral design (José Ignacio)
She does not run whole events. Her work is flowers and the styling of tables and spaces, designed for each venue. According to her listing, she was previously a lifestyle author and TV presenter in the UK. She works both for event companies and for homeowners who entertain, and her coverage is José Ignacio. Where to hold it: Bodega Garzón (Ruta 9 km 175) and the lighthouse chapel
A venue rather than a planner. The winery hosts meetings, presentations, launches, cocktail receptions, dinners and private, social or corporate events. It has a multi-purpose room with its own terrace, the restaurant with its open-fire cooking stations, and guided tours and tastings to round out the day. Capacity and menus are not published: they are arranged with the groups and events team during business hours. See the Bodega Garzón events listing.
For a church ceremony in the village, the Capilla Inmaculada Concepción is not a supplier, but its listing presents it as a regular wedding venue: you find it by the lighthouse on the village square, its altar turned towards the ocean, and it depends on the La Barra parish. The listing does not say how to book a date, so ask that parish. This page does not cover the civil marriage procedure.

We took every service listing whose Type field mentions events. All eight are included, because each states its base and the part of the event it handles; they are ordered by base from José Ignacio towards Rocha, with the winery last. The chapel and Las Cárcavas are mentioned as venues, without a section of their own. There is no ranking. The editorial team decides who is in; no business pays to be listed, and the portal sells no paid placements at present. Dates, availability and budgets are confirmed through each listing.
